Business stars of Horsesmouth revealed!The winner of the Yell Small Business Mentor of the Year Award can now be revealed as Peter Watson, a 70-year-old businessman from North Yorkshire who you may know by the Horsesmouth username ‘Beenthere’.
‘Avalon’ was one of the fellow Horsesmouth users who nominated him for the award, after he offered her advice on a range of business issues, from personnel motivation to putting together a business plan. ‘Beenthere’ has long been an avid supporter of Horsesmouth and is evidence of the brilliant interaction that happens on the site each and every day, with mentors helping others by drawing on their own life experiences.
Horsesmouth joined forces with Yell for this year’s Yell Mentoring Works Awards and were delighted by the number and qualities of the entries we received. We were grateful to have such an impressive team of judges on hand to help us make the tricky decisions- Baroness Shriti Vadera, Helen Stevenson (Chief Marketing Office at Yell), David Clutterbuck (co-founder of the European Mentoring Centre), and MT Rainey (founder and CEO of horsesmouth.co.uk)
‘OutSecLtd’ won the Editor’s Prize for Content for her story ‘Vanessa Phillips- OutSecLtd’, a story about how she set up a leading Internet business and ‘Antoinetta’ was awarded the M-Factor Prize for having the highest M-Factor score on the site.
Peter Watson will receive a cheque for £1000 and all three winners have the chance to have an exclusive business meeting with one of our 4 business heroes: Lastminute.com co-founder and mydeco founder, Brent Hoberman; Specsavers founder Dame Mary Perkins; Coffee Republic founder Sahar Hashemi, and internet entrepreneur Ben Way.
The Yell Mentoring Works Awards have given us a chance to celebrate the important role that mentors play in helping small businesses to develop all year round.
