Efficient , Inventive , Determined
Experienced Change Manager and Operations leader who likes to do things properly and quickly. I have worked in both the UK and mainland Europe. I am both a fully qualified Lean Sigma Black Belt and accredited coach and have worked in Financial Service, Business Services and the drinks industry, so it fair to say that I know how much a pint of beer costs.
In the past 10 years I’ve looked after Marketing and Teleoperations teams, Process Improvement Managers, Operations Departments, Pricing Managers, Product Management, IT Development and Support functions and Business Information teams (who tell the business how well we are doing, or not doing). I like to think I can pull together a broad range of functions and keep a business on track to hitting its goal, whatever that goal may be.
I am now trying to atone for overindulgence in my 30s via a passion for road cycling. When you next pass a cyclist in your car, please be kind!
My father was a financial advisor, so I quickly learned the value of things and how businesses grow and develop, then sometimes stagnate. I'd like to think I can help businesses review and focus what they are good at to kick start their ambitions.
I graduated with a 1st class degree in Management Studies at Glasgow University and have enjoyed a career in business that includes a three year international secondment in Amsterdam. Travel broadened my mind and in the Netherlands I gained an appreciation of the benefits of process improvement. How we define, plan, deliver and control things is applicable in all walks of life.
My career has grown as I have taken on responsibilities for more disparate teams. I don’t know everything about IT coding or telemarketing metrics, but I know enough to ask the right questions and developed a passion for coaching staff through their issues as a result. I find that the answers are nearly always to be found by those closest to the problem, and coaching really helps me here.
I’ve recently done some face to face mentoring in Glasgow and enjoyed it. This gives me the chance to continue develop my coaching and mentoring skills and if I can help someone find a solution to their problems, then that is personally very satisfying
