Self description

Female , 40

A single mum for 13 years, I retrained as a holistic therapist in 2005. A devastating period of ill-health (post viral fatigue syndrome) made me change my life dramatically in '07 and I now own two thriving businesses. My ultimate dream is to spend part of my time abroad, running retreats and helping others to realise their true potential.

Life experiences

Self-esteem & weight issues

After a very troubled childhood, I left home at 16 and fell in love with an unsuitable man, pregnant at 19 and found myself a single mum just 2 weeks after my beloved son was born. I struggled for years with clinical depression and self-esteem issues, not quite able to believe that I was worth anything to anyone. As my weight increased, the more despondent I became. Eventually I hit crisis point and realised that I had to escape my small town. I had no job, no idea where we were living ... a very lonely 4 years followed until I met my partner who changed my life completely; through his - and my son's eyes - I rediscovered that I am good, kind person.

Health and nutrition - finding what works for you

It took many years of research and self-loathing to finally get to grips with the idea that medicine couldn't help me ... it was all nutritional-based. I learnt to respect my body, respect what it was telling me ... and I also discovered the power of food on our moods.

Self-discovery, spirituality, positive thinking& manifestation

So much mention is made of Cosmic Ordering nowadays - yet it is all wrapped up in the power of positive thinking! If you think positively, act positively and stamp on that little voice that doesn't want you to be happy, to succeed (your ego!) ... sure enough, good stuff will come your way. I have had amazing successes with manifestation and it still continues ...

Why mentor on horsesmouth?

No matter where we are in our lives, there is always something more we can learn, more resources we can tap into. I would like to help others through the benefit of my experiences to continue to grow, to develop, to learn ... as, indeed, I am! From my experience of working with clients, most would not entertain the idea of seeking out a "mentor". However, new technology is allowing us all to access amazing resources in the privacy of our own homes, at our own pace. I learnt a long time ago that we will not change our ways unless something resonates deeply within us, that if feels RIGHT for us. Horses Mouth offers such a brave, new platform.

I have been mentoring on HM for 18 months. I really enjoy it & hopefully I am helping other people. Recently I posted my my first 'request for a mentor'. I have been completely bowled over by the response. So many people taking their time & making the effort to offer constructive advice in a friendly polite manner. For me it completely validates the intent behind HM. It reminds me how many good, helpful people there are out there. Thanks for providing such a great service.

well what a geat website! in all honestly, i basically typed in "agony aunts online" while on a down day just expecting some upbeat optimism on the computer, and came across this site. it is so much better than just reading a passage on a website, to actually talk to REAL people for honest advice and listening about particular subjects rather than a general overview.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who replied to one of my recent shout outs about forgiving - every message was useful and some very helpful indeed! It really feels good to know other people understand how i've been feeling, and to know there are people not far from me to help! Thanks so much, and everyone please don't hesitate to get in touch if I can help anyone with any problem you may be having xxx
