Moving away from home

Firstly to college - easy - young and ready for a new challenge. Secondly, moving with my job, rather than my husbands

Coping with family illness

Having to dash out of work in London to get to hospitals on the South Coast whenever my father had another stroke. Visiting my son in hospital when he might have died and waiting for a diagnosis

Working abroad

I worked as an au pair for a Count & Countess between years 1 and 2 at college

Trained as a bi-lingual secretary at the Institut Francais in London. Ended up working in publishing, first as Editorial Assistant, then Advertising Production Manager.Joined Amoco Europe oil company at the beginning of the North Sea Oil boom - exciting times.Raised two boys, ran the school PTA, wrote a book on Rugby & Cricket for Mums after helping Mums on the touchline/field understand the gamesWorked in technical translation with Rank Xerox and Lotus. Learned how computers work (& photocopiers too!)Worked last twenty five years as a senior PA at Chairman & Chief Executive level, also Administration Manager and Company Secretary. Love working with high powered interesting people, but you need to think quicker than them to make for a good working relationship
