I'm a 24 year old currently interning at Channel 4. I live in St Albans, Hertfordshire where I went to school. I went to Goldsmiths in London for a year and then transferred to Southampton University where I studied BA Film and English.
I'm an enthusiastic film-maker and enjoy all forms of media. I love comedy and films, so much so that I wrote my dissertation on Mel Brooks.
I'm profoundly deaf in my right ear and live in a mixed hearing and deaf family.
Some of my goals at the moment include learning to play a new musical instrument, visiting the US and getting in better shape.
Life experiences
Getting into media
It took me two years to get my current placement at Channel 4. Getting into media is tough but not impossible. It helps to talk to as many people as possible!
Making short films
I've made various short films, on my own or in a team. I've been a judge at Screentest film festival so can offer advice, guidance or constructive criticism.
Partial deafness
I've had to live with half hearing since birth. I don't need a hearing aid but I can only hear in mono and find it hard in some noisy situations.
Why mentor on horsesmouth?
Getting good advice is suprisingly difficult. I've had trouble in the past with being pointed in the right direction or trusting people who probably don't know what they're talking about. I used to be a very shy quiet child who was occasionally bullied and it took me a while to gain confidence. Hopefully I can help out some people somehow and makea positive contribution.

well what a geat website! in all honestly, i basically typed in "agony aunts online" while on a down day just expecting some upbeat optimism on the computer, and came across this site. it is so much better than just reading a passage on a website, to actually talk to REAL people for honest advice and listening about particular subjects rather than a general overview.
