Driven , Ambitious , Creative
I'm a 21 year old radio presenter/producer.
Currently I'm working for national digital radio station Amazing Radio, which only plays unsigned and independent music. I produce a 3 hour weekday afternoon show and present a specialist folk/roots/world music show which goes out twice a week.
In the past I've produced websites for the BBC and Channel 4, worked on developing web applications with independent company Maverick and blogged professionally. I've worked my way up through writing for localised and national music sites, managing a student radio station and generally getting involved where I can.
My CV is varied - I believe in being knowledgeable in the entire '360' of media. Highlights so far include co presenting on Myspace Radio with Alex Zane, blagging my way onstage with the Mystery Jets whilst working for the BBC and seeing my work all over e4.com whilst working at Channel 4
It took me a while to get my dream job - getting into radio is hard because it's such a small industry. However, I got there eventually!
I love working for websites - there's something so immediate about the journalism and the content you can create. To really get ahead in media, you need to be aware of how to use New Media in your favour.
It's hopefully more rare these days, but my workplace is still about 80% male and until the end of Summer I'll be the only female voice on the station.
Let's change the odds...
I definitely want to give something back. I've benefitted so much from people giving me their time and giving me a chance. It can be difficult to get an application form noticed however, let alone ace an interview. Hopefully there's some useful advice I can share...
