Sensitive , loyal , Kind
Live in south east london, have worked in the same government department for the past 6 years doing a variety of jobs from administration to managing budgets and planning for a team of 30. Currently an Executive Assistant for one of the Directors of the organisation. Studied History at University, outside of work I run a local netball team, read alot of both fiction and non fiction and am very passionate about movies.
I've completed an in house (accreditied with the Institue for leadership and management) recruitment course and have sat on the panel for a number of internal recruitment campaigns. This gives me a great insight into what you need to do to get that job and what recruiters are looking for (in particular public sector roles). I've also been successful in applying for a variety of roles within the organisation I work in, beign shortlisted and then successful at interview. I completed an internal accelerated leadership programme recently which was a 2 day assessment process which included role plays, gourp exercises and interviews - something that has given me great experience in passing assessment centres.
My elderly Grandmother has suffered with alzheimers and parkinsons for over a decade now. As a teenager when it first happened I didn't appreciate what it meant for me, my parents or my grandmother. We also didn't know for some years what the problem was as neither or my grandfather would allow us to help them. As I've got older, I've become more and more involved, this mostly means helping my parents deal with the ups and downs we've experienced over the years. We've managed to get her through some times when we couldn't see a way out and have now got to a stage where she is healthier and coping better than she has at any other point in the past 12 years. Along the way I've picked up what I feel is a good sense of what worked and what didn't and what has been the best outcome for them all round. Having given enduring support to my parents and granparents I feel as though I can help others who might find themselves in a similar situation
I've always struggled with being overweight and eventually turned to Weight Watchers to help me. I'm currently following the programme and losing steadily weight in a healthy way. One thing about weight watchers is the group support I get - something that I can pass on to someone else who is struggling with healthy eating or who wants to lose weight but can't find the motivation.
The organisation I work for has a very active mentoring culture, something that I've personally benefitted from and I've seen the positive impact good mentoring can have on someone. I've completed several in house training courses in coaching, mentoring and management providing a set of skills I want to put to use where I can. I also have a strong network of family and friends who I'm always able to go to for advice and I'd like to give that back somewhere else to someone who also needs it. The idea of mentoring in this way appeals to me not only because it's something that is flexible and can fit around my work and personal commitments but also for the person seeking advice. Providing them with a safe and informal environment to ask what they need to can be less daunting than seeking help face to face
Why not send out a general call for help to everyone
