I'm currently working with a series of companies all broadly doing something to change the environment for the better.
Did a degree in mathematics ages ago and have since had a varied career, both in large enterprises and small. Set up and successfully ran a dot com business from the mid nineties before selling it a couple of years ago.
I participate in lots of different sports - cycling, skiing, wakeboarding, swimming and tennis being the main ones when time and my three teenage children permit.

Having started, run, grown and eventually sold a business over a ten year period,I have a wealth of practical experience for people starting or trying to grow a small existing business. Experience includes on and offline marketing, sales, account management, staff issues and regulatory knowledge.
Why mentor on horsesmouth?
I get a real kick out of helping people succeed. My experience in business has convinced me that most people are much more capable than either they or their peers think they are. The barriers to greater success are either self-imposed or can quite often be overcome by talking to someone with a different - not necessarily more successful - background and experiences. I think mentoring works well for both these sorts of constraint. I've a particular interest in the difficulties that the over 50s are coming up against in relation to opportunities for employment and retraining.

well what a geat website! in all honestly, i basically typed in "agony aunts online" while on a down day just expecting some upbeat optimism on the computer, and came across this site. it is so much better than just reading a passage on a website, to actually talk to REAL people for honest advice and listening about particular subjects rather than a general overview.
