Self description

Female , 26

Hi, I'm 25, I have a long term boyfriend, I live at home with my parents and I have a brother but we lost him in an car accident. I currently work full time and have been since leaving college in 2001. I got 8 GCSE's at school, but was never very academic. I went to college for a year to study Animal care because when I was growing up I wanted to be a vet nurse, but then decided not to go down this route. Since then I never really knew what I wanted to do career wise and then I saw a job advert for an administration apprentice, the job sounded interesting so I applied and got the job and since then have had better jobs. I like to keep my options open and develop as a person, I have recently completed a Certificate in Management and I am now thinking about studying a Business Studies/Marketing course. I also have a part time job training as a swimming teacher which is completely different to my day job. I've also travelled around Australia for 6 weeks which was great.

Life experiences

Apprenticeships

I have been an apprentice myself and undertook a level 2 and advanced level 3 in Business Admin. I benefited out of doing this, got paid full time and built up my confidence, experience and knowledge. I want to share my positive experience and advise those doing an apprenticeship or those that aren't sure if apprenticeships are for them.

Life Experiences

I have had good and bad experiences through life, the major one being loosing my brother which I find hard and have to deal with everyday. I have very supportive parents and they always help me.

Why mentor on horsesmouth?

I wanted to join Horsesmouth because the organisation I work for, wanted to nominate some people to be mentors, and I thought it was a really good idea. I never had any career mentoring from professionals in life and I attend lots of career events and I think, I wish I had that when I was at school etc, so here I am trying to advise and support people on something I never had.

I am very lucky to have found your website. Recently I wrote about a problem which I face very often.... There were 10 responses from 10 mentors. They have really explained to me and made me understand that I do not have any problem. Your services are wonderful and I am very much thankful to all of you.

I have been mentoring on HM for 18 months. I really enjoy it & hopefully I am helping other people. Recently I posted my my first 'request for a mentor'. I have been completely bowled over by the response. So many people taking their time & making the effort to offer constructive advice in a friendly polite manner. For me it completely validates the intent behind HM. It reminds me how many good, helpful people there are out there. Thanks for providing such a great service.

well what a geat website! in all honestly, i basically typed in "agony aunts online" while on a down day just expecting some upbeat optimism on the computer, and came across this site. it is so much better than just reading a passage on a website, to actually talk to REAL people for honest advice and listening about particular subjects rather than a general overview.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who replied to one of my recent shout outs about forgiving - every message was useful and some very helpful indeed! It really feels good to know other people understand how i've been feeling, and to know there are people not far from me to help! Thanks so much, and everyone please don't hesitate to get in touch if I can help anyone with any problem you may be having xxx
