Informative , Supportive , Empowering
Our Horsesmouth mentors are people with dementia, their families, friends and carers who are using their personal experiences to help others. Our mentors share information and advice on dealing with the challenges of dementia and gaining confidence that it is possible to live well with dementia and continue to play an active and useful role in society.
If you are affected by dementia in any way then sign up as a Living well with Dementia mentor.
‘Living well with dementia’ is a national programme at the Department of Health (DH). It aims to increase awareness of dementia, ensure early diagnosis and intervention and radically improve the quality of care that people with the condition receive.

Dementia affects over 700,000 people in the UK. If you or a loved one have dementia or are caring for someone with dementia you can contact a ‘Living well with dementia’ mentor on Horsesmouth to get support from someone who has been in the same situation and has faced the same challenges.
Our public facing website will also provide you with useful background information about dementia, advice on what to expect and some practical tips on how to help.
One in three (32 per cent) people are uncomfortable around people with dementia according to Department of Health research.
In partnership with Alzheimer’s Society DH have produced the 'Living Well' campaign, which features real people with dementia who declare 'I have dementia - I also have a life'. It aims to educate the public about the condition and demonstrate the simple things everyone can do to help people live well with dementia.
The campaign also aims to address low levels of public understanding that can leave people with dementia and their families facing discrimination.
We want to enable people with experiences of dementia to offer one another support and empower those seeking advice to choose the right mentor for them. If you have experiences relating to Dementia, you can become a Living Well with Dementia mentor. Click here to sign up!
Help us reach people affected by dementia by distributing the Living Well with Dementia on Horsesmouth poster and leaflet.
