Who we are
We are the National Enterprise Academy, one of the national network of skills academies and the first-ever UK educational institution dedicated solely to enterprise and entrepreneurship. Based in Buckinghamshire and Manchester, we are pioneering a new and innovative way of teaching which will expose students to real-life business issues in real-life business environments. Along with formal qualifications, we offer a high level of input from a range of entrepreneurs who will support trained tutors in the delivery of the curriculum by acting as coaches and mentors to the students. It’s essentially the business equivalent of being taught to play football by David Beckham!
Our areas of expertise
Enterprise Education
We offer two new qualifications which have a strong focus on practical skills capturing the true essence of entrepreneurialism and exposing students to real-life business issues. The first, a Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Understanding Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, and the second, a Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. Both are available to 16 to 19-year-olds at the NEA’s enterprise centres in Buckinghamshire and Manchester. Both courses have elements that aim to bring the excitement of the Boardroom into the classroom.
Business Expertise
Mentors here on horsesmouth will be graduates, tutors and faculty of the National Enterprise Academy. They are subject matter experts in a wide range of core disciplines like Business Planning, Marketing, Accounting, Financial Planning and Market Research, as well as being entrepreneurs and business people with real life not “text book” experiences.
The Entrepreneurial Attitude
Peter Jones, entrepreneur and Founder of the National Enterprise Academy has said “In the UK, we need to foster amongst our young people an ‘I can’ rather than a ‘Can I?’ attitude.” So most importantly our mentors here can help you develop the confidence and attitude that characterises successful entrepreneurs. They can help you negotiate the human and family issues that often stand in the way of a start –up and they can give you signposts and techniques to help you fast track your career.
Why we're on horsesmouth
We want more people to be aware of the NEA and our unique approach to teaching and inspiring Enterprise. We also want our alumni and faculty to be able to reach out to the many thousands of people who may come to horsesmouth looking for guidance and support around starting a business or contemplating a pathway through education to enterprise.
